Kilcock Scouts’ Expedition to Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC)5th -12th July 2023

This was definitely one of the most memorable trips any of us have ever had.
The beautiful views, the mountains, nature and the hundreds of fellow scouts, ventures and rovers from all different nations made it an unforgettable experience.

Throughout the week there were amazing activities planned such as ziplining, friendship trails, jucinator ( which was making your own smoothie and blending it by cycling) eco-i-spy and a service project, swimming, a museum and a few other surprises.

The first main activities we did was mountain tubing and a 12km hike!
Everyone can agree the mountain tubing was definitely one of the most exciting and exhilarating yet! We sit in a “tube” which is basically a air filled tyre and slide down a 150m ski jumping hill you could get to a speed of 90km!! It sounds and looks scary but it wasn’t one you got down, even the leaders had a blast!
Once that ended we had a hike up “Alpine hut” for the night, it took us a good few hours to complete but the view (and the spaghetti Bolognese) made it worth it until we had to go back down. It was a hard hike for some of us but the experience, views and photoshoots made it well worth it.

Now my favorite day came next “International day” this is the day we most got to meet an socialize with different people from all around the world! It really brought thousands of scouts together to realize we all aren’t that different from one another at all. It was defiantly one of the most special moments bringing a huge community of people together with different traditions and meeting loads of new friends, to me it helped me realize that scouting if more than just your small group it’s a group of hundred and thousands of people who are different yet the same.
Everyone I met were amazing kind people who I could never forget.

One of the last days we were there we went to Thun and Thun castle, which is a museum with an amazing and interesting history it was nice to learn about some of the history but when you got to the very top it was even more amazing to see the view over all the towns. After the museum some people explored the town and some went swimming in the beautiful waters either way it was a day to remember, being out with all your friends on an amazing adventure even though most of us ended up in McDonald’s..

I loved Switzerland everything about it from the community to the traditions the clean and efficient environment including how well they recycle and how they do it.
Going there really made us all realize a lot of things like energy saving and recycling, I admire how hard everyone at kisc works.

Our trip to Switzerland didn’t come easy for anyone and especially to the leaders who planned and made everything really happen but after all the hard work, planning and effort it was 100% worth every second and every penny.
